We’re excited to be embarking on a major upgrade at Les Mills Auckland City. We’re talking brighter, better spaces, fixing those long-standing pain points (yep, we feel them too), and setting the club up for the future. It’s a big investment to improve your gym experience – and it’s going to be awesome.

changing room

We’re completely refreshing the men’s and women’s changing room: new tiles, modern shower cubicles, fresh lighting, and improved ventilation. The upgrades to each changing room will be completed in stages, as we want to keep as many areas open for use as possible. We have commenced works in both changing rooms.

recovery

Recovery is a huge part of your wellbeing, and we’re excited to be bringing new options to the club. Over the next 12 months we’ll be installing two new saunas - starting with a brand-new expanded men’s sauna, followed by a full refurbishment of the women’s sauna.

WOMEN'S GYM

The Women’s Gym is back open, with new paint and new flooring.  As part of the renovation, we have some new exciting equipment including a Hammer Strength Plate Loaded Glute Drive and a new pin-loaded Abductor/Adductor machine.

studio carpet refresh

We have recently refreshed the carpet in our studios.

FAQS

What is happening at Auckland City between September 2025 to July 2026?

We know upgrades can sometimes feel like a long process, so thank you for your patience, it really means a lot.
This year we’re focusing on the changing rooms, starting with the wet areas (toilets and showers). These will be updated with new tiles, modern shower cubicles, fresh lighting, and improved ventilation.
Once the wet areas are complete, we’ll move on to locker bays and sauna upgrades.

What is happening in the changing rooms?

We’re completely refreshing the men’s and women’s changing rooms: new tiles, modern shower cubicles, fresh lighting, and improved ventilation.

When does construction begin in the changing rooms?

Works have now commenced in both changing rooms and will continue in stages over the coming months.

What is the opening date for the changing rooms?

The upgrades will be completed in stages, as we want to keep as many areas open for use as possible.

We expect the second stage in the men’s changing rooms to be open May 2026.

The first stage in the women’s changing room is due to be open May 2026.

We will then move onto the next stage in both changing rooms.

Will the changing rooms be closed at all?

We’re staging the work so that you always have access to some facilities. There will be short closures for certain areas throughout.

Will there be extra facilities or temporary solutions during construction?

No temporary facilities will be available, however showers and toilets in other areas of the gym, including the Group Fitness tower and adjacent to CONQUER® will be available for use.

Signage will help direct you.

What disruption can I anticipate in the current stage of each of the changing room renovation?

Stage 2 of the men’s changing rooms renovations will involve closing 7 cubicle showers, 2 urinals and 3 cubicle toilets. Members will have access to 11 brand new cubicle showers, and 3 cubicle toilets.

Sage 1 of the women's changing rooms renovation will involve closing some toilets and half of the hand basin vanity. Members will have access to four toilet cubicles and one side of the hand basin vanity.

Will there be more showers/lockers/hairdryers?

We’ll be replacing the open showers with additional cubical showers. Otherwise, this is a like for like upgrade, which means the same number of toilets and showers generally.

Are we getting a new recovery focused space?

Recovery is a huge part of your wellbeing, and we’re excited to be bringing new options to the club. Over the next 12 months we’ll be installing two new dry saunas - starting with a brand-new men’s sauna, followed by the women’s sauna, likely to both reopen middle of this year.

Will there be any member disruption while the recovery space is being built?

Yes, the saunas will be closed for the duration of the construction project.
