About Max

Growing up in the USA, sport was always a huge part of my life — American football, track, basketball, swimming, you name it. I had a natural love for competition and training from a young age.

Alongside sport I had a passion for business, which led me to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG. The gym had always been a hobby on the side, but after years of following the same program without really understanding what I was doing, that passion had started to fade.

That changed when a friend from university in Dunedin introduced me to a completely different way of training. He was still on his own journey at the time, and I got to train alongside him and watch him evolve — gradually mastering the science of hypertrophy and how to actually build programs that work. Being part of that process reignited my passion for training, and he has since become my mentor.

By October 2025 I'd had enough of corporate life. I quit KPMG, headed to Queenstown, and in a slightly impulsive but completely deliberate moment decided to back myself and start fresh. Personal training was the obvious next step — combining everything I'd learned with a genuine desire to help people train smarter. I started coaching in April 2026 and haven't looked back.

I train people the way I wish someone had trained me — with purpose, structure, and a program built around your life.
