About James

I grew up down south in Wānaka and right from a young age I was exposed to all types of sports and fitness, from snow sports to football to multisport but I mainly competed in Gymnastics and trained in ballet, eventually becoming a gymnastics coach where I found my passion for helping and training others to learn more about their body and movement. I have coached all ages from 2 months to 65+ years and I know that with the right coaching and habits, anything is possible for anybody.

Now I play ice hockey here in Wellington, teach Les Mills Shapes and enjoy resistance training, Hyrox-style circuits, calisthenics, and learning new skills. I am studying at the New Zealand Institute of Sport in exercise, having completed my level 4 qualification and now continuing to study level 5.

My training style is centered around YOU as a whole person, working hard, having fun and building a solid foundation of bodyweight and functional movement patterns before progressing into the big fun goals; whether it's an event, real sports, gym gains or improving your health and well being. I'm here to help create a safe space for training every-body.

If you're not too sure where or how to start but want to move stronger and more confidently through life please flick me a message; lets catch up and figure out how we're going to get you there!
