About Gilvan

With more than 20 years of experience in the fitness industry, Gilvan combines extensive hands-on coaching with a Bachelor of Physical Education and postgraduate specialisation in Personal Training and Resistance Training.

His approach is grounded in exercise science but centred on the individual. Every programme is built around your goals, training experience, lifestyle, movement needs and capabilities — not a generic, one-size-fits-all workout.

Whether your goal is to lose body fat, build muscle, become stronger, improve fitness, move better or simply feel more confident in the gym, Gilvan uses structured, progressive training designed to produce results that are both effective and sustainable.

He works with clients across a broad range of goals, from fat loss and body recomposition to strength, hypertrophy, movement quality and athletic performance. Gilvan also has a special interest in providing appropriately tailored exercise and strength-training support for women living with endometriosis.

His coaching experience extends well beyond the gym. Gilvan is a 4th Dan Shotokan Karate Black Belt who has represented New Zealand internationally. He now coaches karate athletes competing at national and international level and serves as a referee and judge.

Decades of martial arts training have shaped the way Gilvan coaches: with an emphasis on discipline, technique, consistency, movement quality and continual progression.
