Summer Strawberry Goodness Smoothie

This strawberry and chia seed thickened smoothie is perfect for an afternoon snack, or even as dessert. I use white chia seeds for this recipe because I love a deep colour pink that goes "pop". But you could use black chia seeds, no problem.

Chia have Omega 3, potassium, fibre and they are an awesome source of protein. So, they're a great go-to if you are vegetarian or vegan, but they're good for everyone.

1 cup almond milk

1/2 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)

3 tablespoons yoghurt (I highly rate The Collective's vanilla potset yoghurt)

1 teaspoon of honey (I recommend True Honey 500+ Manuka Honey)

pinch of cinnamon

2 tablespoons of chia seeds (I recommend the Go Superfood white organic chia seeds)

Place the milk, strawberries, yoghurt, honey and cinnamon into a blender and mix until smooth and creamy. Then spoon in the chia seeds and stir well (otherwise the chia seeds all sit and swell on the bottom!) Leave this in the fridge for 20 minutes to let the chia seeds plump up. Next, slurp it up and smile.

Optional extras: For an added antioxidant boost add 1 teaspoon of Lifestream Essential Berries powder. Or if you want an extra protein kick then add some Les Mills Good Protein.
