FAST FACTS

Where do I go on the day?

Your go-to place for all things Global Filming is the Registration Hub at the bottom of the Wellesley Street car park. That's where you scan in with your tickets, get your wrist bands, grab your goodie bag and ask any questions you may have!

What's happening?

We’re calling on Les Mills fans across the country to take part in our Global Masterclass filming at
Les Mills Auckland City. Filming will take place across studios Cycle, GRIT, Studio 1, and the Wellesley Street Carpark and rooftop from Friday 7 May – Sunday 9 May.

What is a Global Masterclass filming?

Our Masterclasses are the workouts used through LES MILLS Virtual and on LES MILLS On Demand, in addition to being an educational tool for Instructors. This is an exciting opportunity for you to participate in an audience showing millions of Les Mills members around the world how it’s done. Plus you’ll get a sneak peek at all the new moves from your favourite classes.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! Outside of costing you a few litres of sweat it’s totally free to be a part of this experience. For members with the SmartParking App free parking will be extended to 120 minutes at the Wellesley Street Carpark from Friday 7 May - Sunday 9 May.

Why is this happening here?

Les Mills Auckland City is the home of Les Mills – it’s our first club that opened over 52 years ago. We want to show the world that we can create a theatre for an incredible fitness event right here in the home of Les Mills.

What spaces will be affected?

Filming will take place across studios Cycle, GRIT, Studio 1, the Wellesley Street Carpark level 5 and 6, in addition to the Wellesley Street Carpark rooftop. These areas will be impacted at various times throughout the week leading up. Keep your eye on our website and your local Les Mills Facebook pages for updates.

Check out the timetable changes here:

The GRIT studio cardio area, stretch area, CYCLE studio, CEREMONY and CONQUER studios will be unavailable between Friday 7 May and midday Monday 10 May

Will there be changes to the timetable?

Yes, but we'll give you lots of notice. Check out the timetable changes here:

How will Ceremony & Conquer classes be impacted?

Along with GRIT and Cycle Studios, Ceremony, Conquer stretching and cardio spaces within the GRIT area will be closed from Friday 7 May – Monday 10 May at midday. This will also limit space for PT sessions. Make sure you get in midweek or workout at another club to avoid a disruption!

Will there be an impact on parking?

Levels 5 and 6 of our Wellesley Street carpark will be unavailable between Wednesday 5 May and Sunday 9 May. Scooter Parking on top of the Ceremony Studio will still be available for use. Keep your eye on our website and the Les Mills Auckland City Facebook page for updates.

What if I’m a single club member at Auckland City?

You’ll be able to work out in any Les Mills club in Auckland from Sunday 2 May – Sunday 9 May.

Do I need to sign-in on arrival?

Yes – our Registration Hub is at the bottom of The Wellesley Street Carpark. We’ll have plenty of signs and crew members around to make sure you don’t get lost! Please remember to bring your eventbrite ticket/s (on your phone or printed out). We’ll also ask for a tick of approval that you’re comfortable being filmed.

The Registration Hub will be open between these hours over the weekend:

  • Friday; 10am – 8.15pm
  • Saturday; 11am – 8.30pm
  • Sunday; 1pm – 4.30pm

What do I need to wear?

Whatever you would normally workout in! We do have a global partnership with Reebok so if possible please the plainer the clothing the better (unless it’s Reebok/Les Mills). Don’t forget a full drink bottle and sweat towel too!

NOTE: The Studio 2 workouts of GRIT Cardio, GRIT Strength and new seasonal programme Strength Development will not be filmed. If you’re attending one of these classes you’re free to wear whatever you want!

Will the entire club be closed at any point?

No, only the areas listed above will be affected. The club hours will also remain the same throughout too.

Will this only impact the Auckland City club?

No, some Les Mills Smartech equipment will be borrowed from our Britomart and Takapuna clubs. We will be re-working the timetable to best accommodate regular classes. We’ll keep you up to date on our website and local Les Mills Facebook pages.

What if I want to come but my friends don’t go to Les Mills?

You’d still have a blast riding solo! But, your friends are welcome to come along – just send them to lesmills.co.nz/globalfilming to register.

How do I get to Studio 1 and the Carpark rooftop for my class?

Once you’ve registered you’ll receive a colour band per class. 15 minutes before the class is due to start please meet under the foot bridge in the Les Mills Lane to carpark for entrance to Studio 1 and Level 5 of The Wellesley Street for Carpark Rooftop. We’ll have plenty of friendly staff marked ‘CREW’ around to help direct you.

Is there anything extra I need to bring?

A drink bottle and sweat towel are essentials! If you’re attending BODYBALANCE, please bring your own mat. If you’re attending CORE on the Wellesley Street Carpark, we recommend bringing a mat if you have one.

Where can I put my bags while attending the class?

You’re more than welcome to bring a lock and key to use our lockers in changing rooms. For those classes on The Wellesley Street Carpark rooftop you’ll be able to pop your things away in a room however this will be at your own risk. Tags will be available for you to name your items.

Will there be drinks and food provided?

We encourage you to support local – there are several cafes, along with Press House Café within Les Mills Auckland City.

If I need help on the day who do I talk to?

There will be staff clearly marked with ‘CREW’ t-shirts ready and happy to help with any questions.

Where can I be kept up to date?

You can keep updated via lesmills.co.nz/globalfilming and Les Mills Auckland City Facebook page.

What happens if it rains?

In the unfortunate event of rain, we will assess if the weather will clear or not. Please keep an eye out on Les Mills Auckland City’s Facebook page for updates.

What happens in the event of Covid-19 Level Changes?

Filming will still go ahead with a change to Level 2, albeit with audience reduction and social distancing. In the unfortunate event of a Level 3 change we will have to postpone or cancel.

Can I just watch the class and not take part?

Unfortunately not, there is limited space that needs to accommodate stages, audience and the camera crew.

What if I need to go toilet?

Along with current gym bathroom facilities there will be extra bathrooms located in the basement of The Wellesley Street Carpark. Signage will be available to locate these.
