Te Whāriki (The Early Childhood curriculum) is based on the aspirations that children grow up:
"As competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging, and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society"
At Les Mills Early Learning Centre children will have the opportunity to develop this aspiration through attending an environment which values the characteristics of on-going learning, through assessment practices of noticing, recognising and responding to children's learning dispositions, actions and behaviours, centre learning priorities, and principals, strand and goals of Te Whāriki.
We value parent/family and whānau involvement in our centre and encourage a collaborative teaching and learning environment.
We are a sessional centre. Our fully licensed ELC service allows us to take up to 18 children in total, including a maximum of 10 under the age of two years old, from as young as 6 weeks until 5 years of age. Once a child either starts school or turns 6 years of age they are classed school-aged children and therefore cannot attend the centre any longer.
We operate on or below the following MOE ratios:
Under 2 year old children - 1 Adult : 5 Children.
Over 2 year old children - 1 Adult : the first 8 children
A maximum of 18 children is permitted in any one session including a maximum of 10 under 2 year old children at any time
We are committed to working with our families to provide a welcoming and stimulating teaching and learning environment. Our staff are all highly trained and include Early Childhood Qualified and Registered teachers. We deliver quality Education and Care in accordance with the (MOE) Ministry of Education's Centre Regulations and the 2008 Licensing Criteria
