KIDS WORLD GENERAL INFORMATION
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME
Children will experience a programme, planned and spontaneous, based on the principles, strands and goals of New Zealand's early childhood curriculum Te Whaariki,Children are supported by trained and experienced teachers while they are learning, developing and having fun!
Curriculum areas include:
- Music & movement
- Dramatic play
- Visual arts & creativity
- Sensory exploration
- Simple construction
- Science & technology
- Early literacy & mathematical concepts
Heuristic play is an aspect of our infant & toddler curriculum, which supports sensory development through exploration of a wide range of well selected open ended objects.
We encourage you to share your child's current interests as a basis from which to build relationships and knowledge. We aim to reflect the cultural background of all children attending and invite you to share your cultural heritage with us in any way you can.
PLANNING, ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
Our planning is based on group and individual learning stories. The observations and photos support and demonstrate the learning happening. A copy is given to the families involved, to enable sharing and feedback.
SETTLING PROCEDURE
It is important that you initially stay with your child until they feel safe to explore and are comfortable with the teachers. Each child will have their own settling requirements and it is important to plan to meet these needs. We will ask you to come back to Kids World should your child become unsettled to prevent distress.
WHAT TO BRING
Your child will require some of the following items:
- Named bag
- Healthy snacks and drink (preferably water)
- Infant bottle and / or cup
- A spare set of clothing nappies and wet wipes
IMMUNISATION & ILLNESS
We are required to keep an immunisation register for children, whether you choose to immunise or not. We are required to sight the certificate in the Well Child - Tamariki Ora Health Book and keep a copy. All information is kept confidential.
Children should be kept away if they have any of the following symptoms:
- Diarrhoea in the previous 48 hours
- Vomiting in the previous 24 hours
- A temperature
- Persistent coughing
- Extremely runny nose
- Persistent crying
- Unexplained rashes
- Difficulty breathing
- been given paracetamol (or equivalent) during the previous 6 hours
