KIDS CLUB GENERAL INFORMATION
SETTLING CHILDREN IN
Please take the time to settle your child into the Kids Club. If the time is taken to settle your child, their time with us is sure to be enjoyable. Please talk to staff regarding settling in requirements for your child. Each child will have their own settling needs and it is important that staff can plan with parents to meet these. We also have a settling in policy, please take the time to read this.
Parents and Whanau are most welcome to spend time with their child in the Kids Club, and parent feed back is always encouraged.
Please confirm your location in the gym, mobile number on the booking in sheet.
CHILDRENS' REQUIREMENTS
Please dress your child in clothes which they can comfortably paint and play in and explore the environment. While children will be encouraged to use the aprons provided when painting, we can not guarantee their use! Please provide a change of clothing and feeders if required. Wet wipes and disposable nappies must be provided for your child. Please provide a named healthy snack, e.g. fruit, sandwich, raisins, cheese etc... and a drink for your child. We have a morning tea and lunch breaks, which gives the children an opportunity to sit down and eat with other children and develop their social skills.
Due to some childrens allergies we are a nut free zone.
DISPOSABLE CHANGING OR TOILETING
Please ensure that when you leave your child at Kids Club they are wearing a clean dry disposable. If you specifically wish your child to be changed during their time with us please advise staff of this by writing on the whiteboards provided, along with the approximate time. Staff will make regular disposable checks, but unless your child is obviously wet or soiled and you have not written your childs requirements on the whiteboard, staff will not change your child's disposable. If you are changing your child at Kids Club please use the change table provided, not the floor. If your child is toilet training, please follow the above procedure and tell the staff member on toileting of your child's toileting needs.
Please don't forget your disposables or wipes!
ENROLMENT & DAILY REGISTER
We will ask you to fill in an enrolment card on your first visit to the Kids Club. We will also ask to see the immunisation records of your child, although we do accept children that have not been immunised. The information gathered about your child will be kept in the strictest confidence.
The Kids Club has a daily register which is where you sign your child in and out of on a daily basis. Please make sure you remember to do this!
Please tell a staff member if you change contact details so that we can keep your details current.
ILLNESS
If your child is unwell with an illness or infection, please allow them sufficient time to rest and recover at home, as bringing them into the Kids Club when they are still unwell can put other children and staff at risk. Kids Club staff have the right to refuse admission if any illness or infection is evident or suspected.
DAILY ROUTINES
Please regularly check our notice boards which we use to inform parents of up to date happenings in the Kids Club and the early childhood world.
During a session your child will generally experience a snack/food time, hand washing, toileting, story and music time, group activity, mat time and a variety of art activities. Equipment is also available which encourages fantasy play, gross and fine motor skill development, sharing and taking turns as well as bi-cultural resources and activities.
PLANNING, ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
You will find our group planning on our planning board. This is done regularly by the teachers who come together once a month to discuss what the children have been interested in and where they are heading to next. The teachers will discuss individual children and small groups in terms of strengths/interest and needs. They will assess the children using Learning Stories which is a great way for parents to see and hear about their child's milestones and accomplishments here at Kids Club. These are also displayed on the planning board with photos as well as our Evaluations. All planning is made available and accessible to parents if they would like a copy.
PARENT POLICY HANDBOOK AND THE DESIRABLE OBJECTIVES AND PRACTICES
Please take the time to read both these documents. These contain our - Philosophy, Policies, Desirable Objectives & Practices and our Management Plans. These are constantly reviewed by management & staff and parents information is displayed on our noticeboard.
Please ask the Kids Club manager if you need more information.
EVACUATION PROCEDURE
Please note our procedure, which is also displayed on our parent notice board. Please do not attempt to return to the Kids Club after the alarm has sounded. After you have evacuated we will meet you in the assembly area outside the Kids Club. In the event of an earthquake, staff will assist children to drop and cover and attempt to keep children calm, begin any first aid and wait for help to arrive.
LOST PROPERTY AND ARTWORK
There are boxes containing both these items. Please check both boxes regularly.
